Those aged 8 to 11 benefit as much as younger children from enjoyment in class, and the games and exercises we use stretch them, prompt them to think, but can also make them laugh.

 We usually start with whole-class exercises, and perhaps some discussion, and then split the children into smaller groups to work on individual set pieces or improvisation-type exercises. These are often themed or suggestive, leaving the children to use their imaginations as far as possible. They will also be engaged in individual activities, and are sometimes asked to prepare small performance pieces for the following week’s class.

 The second half of any term is usually spent, in part, preparing for our end-of-term show. 

DORKING

Tuesday 1600-1800 The Christian Centre, North Street, Dorking
This class is suitable for 7-11 year olds.

Cost: £160* for both classes per term or £100* for drama or street dance only.

We offer a two-week trial of this class. If they wish to join after this period we will ask you to fill in a registration form and you will pay for the two sessions attended, and the remainder of the term. If your child decides he or she does not want to continue with the classes, you will not owe us anything.

Blue Academy street dance

This class is particularly well suited to those boys and girls who love to dance, and know they want to learn new steps and routines but are not very keen on any of the more established forms of dance such as ballet, jazz or modern. 

Because of the nature of this style of dance, which is free and based very much on individual expression and interpretation, there is no fixed format as to how the classes are taught. Our instructors, all of whom are working dancers and therefore in touch with all the latest in street dance style, will usually begin with a warm-up, and possibly some active games. The class then consists generally of some freestyle dance work, pair and group work, and often the learning of new steps that will eventually form the basis of a street dance routine that will make up part of our end-of-term performance.

Monday 1630-1730 Dorking Sports Centre, Reigate Road, Dorking
This class is suitable for 7-11 year olds.

Cost: £85 per term.
